This month we are going to use a community garden to teach our preschoolers that “I can thank God for everything.” Wow, there is so much goodness in that one statement! First of all, I can thank. Choosing to be thankful is the road to contentment, joy, and peace. And we want our preschoolers to have all of that goodness in their lives. Second, I can thank God. Thanking God is how we acknowledge the One giving us all the good in our lives. And third, I can thank God for everything. Yes, even the not so good stuff. When we thank God for everything, we are showing God that we believe He can use ALL things for His purpose and nothing is too big for Him. We want our preschoolers to know they can thank God for everything. We want them to experience the contentment, joy, and peace that comes from a thankful heart.

Everything we have comes from God. He is faithful to provide what we need. And even more than what we own, God can also provide what we need to face whatever happens in our life. God has proven time and again that we can trust Him no matter what. We can complain or become jealous of what others have . . . or we can choose to respond with contentment, knowing that God has a plan for our lives.
Here are our weekly video presentations that go along with our current First Look (Bubbles & Bouncies) and 252 Kids (7’Ups & Preteens) curriculum. Story Focus: I can thank God for people who help me.
Finally, we will visit the story of Elisha and the wonderful couple who not only invited him to eat from their table but built a room for him on their home for when he was in town. They really understood hospitality! While we may not have someone who has made a room for us, we do have people who have helped us, and we can thank God for them.
And, while we’re being thankful, we want you to know that we at IBC Kids thank God for YOU. Thank you for investing in the lives of preschoolers each and every day.
This week, we head to something Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 8:1-5. The believers in Corinth had an opportunity to really help the people who were struggling in Jerusalem. Paul highlighted how the church in Macedonia donated freely, even though they were very poor. This is a great reminder for the Corinthian church and for us—that no matter what we have or what we’ve been through, we can always find something to give.
Bottom Line: You can always use what you have to help someone else. When we talk about giving, kids might feel like the concept doesn’t apply to them. After all, most of them don’t have extra money laying around that they can share with others. However, when kids start to look at the way God has wired them, they’ll discover ways they can use their time and talents to help others.
Key Question: How can you use what you have to help others? Not everyone has extra money or stuff . . . but most of us do have our time and talents that we can use to help. With this question, we hope to spark a great conversation among your preteens about what they have . . . .and how they can use that to help people in need.

Partnering with parents is always important for IBC, and it can be especially helpful in times of uncertainty. Consistent communication builds trust, and it also equips you, parent, to have spiritual conversations at home. Below are a couple of tools to help you connect digitally with IBC Kids during this time.
